Grandmom’s Cheese Sticks

Best right out of the oven…

1 1/2 cups flour, 1 package yeast, 1 tsp thyme, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 cup extra sharp cheddar shredded, 2/3 cup water, 2 tbsp butter

Combine all dry ingredients. Add cheddar.

Warm water and butter in microwave until butter melts. Test temperature so that liquid is not too hot before adding to dry ingredients.

Knead lightly into small ball. Place in bowl greased with olive oil, Cover with warm moist towel and let rise – about 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Roll dough into large rectangle. Cut into sticks and bake on greased baking sheet about 8- 10 minutes until browned.
